Song - Parts

Define the arrangement of the song.

Parts

A song consists of one or more parts, which can be used to organize the song into sections such as verses, choruses, bridges, etc. Each part can have its own set of lyrics and chords. Parts are typically used to structure the song and make it easier to follow during performance.

Parts can be added, edited, or deleted as needed. They can also be rearranged to change the order of the song sections. The parts are displayed in a list format, and you can click on each part to view or edit its details. You can rearrange the parts by dragging and dropping them in the desired order.

Parts

At the top of the parts editor you see an overview of the song structure, which shows the parts in the order they will be played, along with the bars and the timeline of the song.

When you click on a part in the list, you can edit its name and length (number of bars).

Linking lyrics

If the parts's lyrics are the same as another part (i.e. the chorus), you can link the lyrics to that part by selecting it from the dropdown menu. This allows you to maintain a single set of lyrics for multiple parts, making it easier to manage changes to the lyrics without having to update each part individually.

If the lyris have an upbeat, you can include up to 4 bars ahead of the part in the linkage.

If the the next part has an upbeat, you can exclude up tp 4 bars at the end of the part from the linkage.

You can also link lyrics dirctly from the parts bar of the lyrics editor.

Linking chords

If the part's chords are the same as another part (i.e. the chorus), you can link the chords to that part by selecting it from the dropdown menu.

You can also link chords dirctly from the parts bar of the chords editor.

Muting the click

If you want to mute the click for a specific part, you can do so by checking the "Mute click" checkbox. This is useful for parts where you don't want the click track to be audible, such as an ending that has a ritadando.

Tempo and Alternate bar structure

If you have tempo changes in your song, you can set the tempo for each part individually. If the tempo is not set, the song's default tempo will be used.

If your song has time signature changes, you can set the alternate bar structure for each part. If your song is in 4/4 time, and one part is in 6/8 you can define an alternate bar pattern like this:

Alternate bar structure

These patterns are repeapted until the end of the part. For example, a part with 3 bars of 4/4 and one bar of 7/8 would look like this:

Complex bar structure

You can override the tempo and the turn on trplet subdivision for each bar.
